June 1, 2022 - Cannabis Review Board Expansion and Change the Community Host Agreement Process - Hoboken City Code Chapter 36 Amendment
This amendment expanded the Cannabis Review Board (CRB) from three to seven people. The original three members were only local government employees. The expansion added four resident appointees, two appointed by city council and two appointed by the administration. In addition, the amendment moved the Community Host Agreement negotiation responsibilities from the CRB to the city administration.

Amendment to the Hoboken City Code Chapters 196 and 36 to Amend Certain Provisions Related to Cannabis Facilities and Procedures - Hoboken, NJ (iqm2.com)
City Council took action and the mayor approved additional measures to bring common sense to the implementation of cannabis dispensaries which included (1) limiting the number of dispensaries to 6 with a maximum of 3 in each ward (2) removing C3 as a zone from the approved dispensary zone list (3) adding a provision that kept cannabis dispensaries 600 feet away from schools. Prior there was no distance limit from schools.

This was the NJ State Opt-In Ordinance for Recreational Cannabis. Included the following changes: Added zoning districts C2 and C3 to the ordinance for the first time which put dispensaries much closer to school zones. Added 500 ft limitation between dispensaries but removed cap on total number of dispensaries.
